This year we are proudly celebrating three decades of PLM expertise, innovation, transformation, and above all: people, projects, and passion.
CIMPA was founded in 1995 and we’ve come a long way since then. That’s worth celebrating, in a way that reflects CIMPA’s spirit: authentic, collective, and in tune with the times.
Starting with a brief overview of our journey so far, we will publish more contents throughout September. Watch out for more news here !
CIMPA’s History in Key Dates
Since its creation in 1995 in Paris and later in Toulouse, CIMPA has experienced continuous growth while maintaining a strong specialization in PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) services.

Initially founded within the Aérospatiale Research Center in Suresnes, CIMPA became a fully-fledged subsidiary of the EADS Group in 2000. Through subsequent reorganizations and name changes, it was integrated into Airbus in 2003.
Early on, the company began expanding internationally, with the creation of CIMPA GmbH in Hamburg in 2001, followed by CIMPA Ltd in Bristol in 2005.
By 2012, CIMPA had reached 800 employees and signed a strategic partnership with Dassault Systèmes, a leading PLM solutions provider. A year later, a similar agreement was concluded with PTC, and the Spanish subsidiary was established in Madrid.
For two decades, CIMPA was a major partner to Airbus and its entities in their PLM projects. CIMPA played an important role in major aircraft programs such as the A380 and A350, while also supporting other leading players in the aerospace industry.

In 2015, CIMPA became the PLM subsidiary of the Sopra Steria Group, and in 2016, full integration into the Group was achieved.
In 2017, CIMPA’s participation alongside Sopra Steria in a joint exhibition chalet at the Paris Air Show cemented its position as a key player in the aerospace sector.
In 2018, CIMPA acquired 2MoRo, a specialist in MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) software for aviation.

In 2020, the health crisis accelerated CIMPA’s diversification strategy, driving growth in new sectors such as energy, transportation, and defense. In 2021, CIMPA focused on restoring strong performance levels.
By 2025, CIMPA has nearly 1,600 employees and has also established a PLM competence center in India. To its traditional aerospace clients, the company had added major players from defense, energy, and transport.
This year also marks CIMPA’s 10th anniversary within the Sopra Steria Group.
