We are pleased to announce that we have been selected by Jaguar Land Rover Ltd to provide Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) training to their supplier base.
Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is an industry-standard engineering language used on Jaguar Land Rover 3D annotated CAD models and 2D engineering drawings. It enables to efficiently and accurately communicate the functional requirements for associated features on components and assemblies and ensures that the part modelled or drawn is the part that is made.
The proper use of GD&T dramatically reduces the need for drawing notes to describe complex geometry requirements on a component or assembly by the use of standard international symbols that accurately and quickly defines design, manufacturing and inspection requirements. This has significant cost benefits to Jaguar Land Rover and to their supplier base. Jaguar Land Rover having adopted the ISO Standards for Technical Product Specification through BS 8888 within their PLM Standards, this standard has to be understood by all users of the standard. CIMPA is participating in a programme to deliver comprehensive and tailored training programmes to bring supplier users up to speed on the scope and application of this standard.
